For day to day guidance to students on training at different places, the institute has an intelligent adjunct faculty. Remaining sensitive to the local needs under Community Development Programmes the instistute has opened three training centers in the rural areas. Under this MHRD and CDC scheme sanctioned to the institute, many short term courses have been started in the nearby villages and so far 2000 people have derived benefit from this scheme. The efforts are initiated for HUDCO Building Center, STEP, UNDP, NABARD training programmes etc in our institute. These programmes lay emphasis on the development of technical and vocational skills.

Under social welfare scheme, the institute provides appropriate knowledge in the field, with emphasis on training part of the students of C-PYTE programme of Govt. of Punjab. Around 2000 students have been trained under C-PYTE programme. Further, institute offers special design courses, approved from MHRD for the welfare and skill development of girls. So far around 1000 students have been benefited from the scheme.

Consistent consultancy by the institute to the industry, not only keeps the two in closed proximity but also helps to strengthen the R & D programmes of the institute. Some of the R & D programmes have been adopted by faculty for their Ph.D. work. Several MoU with various industrial houses of national and international fame have been signed for the purpose.

For placement of students, campus interviews as well as industry visits have been arranged and to look after the training activities at different places, coordinators have been appointed by the institute. Every year, around 1600 students are going for industrial training in various organizations and industries of repute. About 100 degree students and equal number of diploma and certificate students have either been employed or short listed by the industries for employment. Some of our degree students have been employed in multinational and other reputed companies such as Infosys Technologies Ltd., IBM, Quark Media House, Philips India, PTL, TATA Honeywell, Pepsi Foos Ltd. Smithkline Beecham, Gabrial India Ltd, Indian Acrylics Ltd., Hero Cycles Ltd., Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force etc.

Apart from these activities we always keep in touch with various industries and call the veteran industrialists for the counseling of our students.
