EQUAL OPPORTUNITITES CELL has been established in SLIET. The cell is work under Dean (S&W).

OBJECTIVES

To oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for the Disadvantaged group [SC’s, ST’s, OBC’s (non-creamy layer), minorities] in order to enhance their employability and success.

To provide guidance and counseling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters.

To enhance the diversity within the campus

FUNCTIONS

The cell will perform following functions w.e.f. 2010-11:

(i) To run specific schemes of coaching for SC’s, ST’s, OBC’s (non-creamy layer) and minorities in order to enhance the employability and success of these students.

(ii) To eliminate the perception of discrimination.

(iii) To look into the grievances of the weaker section of society

(iv) To create a socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and for the growth of healthy interpersonal relationships among the students coming from various social backgrounds.

(v) To make efforts to sensitize the academic community regarding the problems associated with social exclusion as well as aspirations of the marginalized communities.

(vi) To disseminate the information related to schemes and programmes for the welfare of the socially weaker section as well as notifications/memoranda, office orders of the Governments, or other related agencies/organizations issued from time to time.

(vii) To prepare barrier free formalities/procedures for admission/registration of students belonging to the disadvantaged groups of society.

(viii) To organize periodic meetings to monitor the progress of different schemes.

(ix) To sensitize the college on the problems of SC/ST and other disadvantages groups.
